6 Days Primate Safari in Uganda

In this kind of safari, you will be treated with ecstasy and watch the country’s rich natural diversity comprising of flora and fauna as well as tracking down the gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest not missing the rare bird species. Below is the proposed itinerary for this safari;

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP

On this day, you will be picked up from your hotel or the airport and embark on the long southern drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will have a stop over at the drum makers for some souvenirs and then to the Equator where you will stand in both hemispheres for some photos. Then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will reach late in the evening and check in at Mweya safari lodge for dinner and overnight. Meals here are on F/B basis.

Day 2:Game drive and boat cruise

Rise up very early in the morning before 7 am and have breakfast and then move into the park for game drive. This early morning drive will enable you to catch a glimpse of some animals returning to their dens from their night preys. Such animals will include the big five [elephants,lions,leopards,buffaloes],hyenas,warthogs,alibi,silver buck etc.Move to the hotel for lunch and refreshments. In the evening go for boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which connects lakes George and Edward and then afterwards return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meals are F/B

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest

Wake up very early in the morning and embark on the long drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP known as Ishasha having lunch at Ishasha River. Move into Gorilla Resort [mid range] or Buhoma Community Bandas [budget].Meals are on FB.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

After a morning heavy breakfast and with packed lunch you will transfer to the park offices for briefing and then later on at 9:00 am commence the gorilla trek along the tracks in the thick forest searching for these great apes. Depending on the movement of these humble giants the trek might take between 2-9 hours before you encounter the Gorillas. Though the walk is tiresome meeting these great apes and spending some time with them while looking deep into their expressive brown eyes, is an exhilarating and heartbreaking wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Drive to Lake Mburo NP

After breakfast we will depart for Lake Mburo National Park. This scenic drive will take you to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch before making our final descent to Lake Mburo National Park. This Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other animals. Bird viewing opportunities are excellent for birders, this is one of the best places to find African fin foot, papyrus bush shrike. After checking in, go for a game drive in the rolling hills and open grasslands. The lovely landscape is a home to Impala, Waterbuck, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Klipspringers, Crested Crane, and the elusive Shoebill Stork. Overnight at Luxury Montana Tented camp/Basic Rwonyo Rest Camp (FB)

Day 6: Nature Walk and drive to Kampala

After an early morning breakfast you will have a guided nature walk. A ranger guide takes you on foot to the bush. Lake Mburo is the only place in this part of Uganda where you can see zebra and Impala and it’s also the best place to see the African Eland, Africa’s largest antelope. Return to the hotel for lunch and then in the evening drive to Kampala reaching a little bit late and check in at your preferred hotel and thus the end of the safari.
